The Golden Cabin

Found in the middle of the Canadian Rockies lies the beautiful town of Golden. Surrounded by six national parks (Yoho, Glacier, Banff, Jasper, Kootenay and Mount Revelstoke) making it a great base for all-year adventures, Golden has spectacular scenery, iconic hiking trails, waterfalls, lakes and beautiful heritage parks.

We spent a couple of days here to disconnect and enjoy each other’s company, being only an hour away from Lake Louise where we were living, and it had everything we needed and more.

Our stay is right by Edelweiss Creek, a stone’s throw away from the Golden township. Two luxury mountainside cabins overlook an amazing view of Kicking Horse Resort and the Dogtooth Range. With gabled roofs, beautiful wooden interiors and a gorgeous loft, you can’t help but feel cosy and warm the moment you set foot. Our visit was in April, perfect in the spring season with the mountains still capped and a cool crisp air. Being so close to resorts and walking trails, it’s the perfect place to come home to after a day of adventure.

“Soak in all the views”

The cabin has all the modern comforts. The deck is huge with two lounge chairs to while away the day, the hot tub to soak in all the views and a bbq perfect for a small cookout. Inside, the living area is tastefully decorated with homey touches; blankets adorn the L-shaped couch, a leather chaise perfect for reading by the window and of course, the fireplace to cosy up by. There is even a washing machine and dryer for longer stays! One thing to note is that there is no TV and this is intentional, a way to live slower and enjoy the surroundings.

The kitchen is simple, with a concrete island in the middle and all the bells and whistles - refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, 4-burner gas stove and an espresso machine.

In the bathroom there is everything you need - working toilet, walk-in tiled shower and even a little heater for the cold season!

The loft is the sleeping area, accessed by a ladder that is quite steep. If you have a fear of heights or have mobility issues, this cabin might not be for you. With a queen bed, the bedroom is spacious and comfortable for lounging in. The bunkhouse outside has 2 extra bunk beds for families or bigger groups.

Warmth inside..

And warmth outside!

The outside area has lots of space to run around and play, with a fire pit to sit and watch the stars come out. For more wood and kindling, the shed by the entrance has cedar and birch to burn and a sharp hatchet is provided to split the wood into kindling. With everything you need out here, this place is perfect for long stays - indeed, we could have stayed a few more days if we could!
